Airbnb | Live There
People travel like tourists, going and “doing” a city, following the crowds. Going to the same places, taking the same pictures, standing in the same lines and not getting the travel experience they’d hoped for. There’s actually a name for it: Paris Syndrome.
But Airbnb users have a completely different travel experience. Feeling grounded in the comfort and familiarity of a real home. Staying in the heart of local neighborhoods, where real life is happening. Having a welcoming host who helps unlock the city. Almost as if you’re not a tourist at all. Their experience was our strategy: Airbnb lets you travel like you live there.
At TBWA\Chiat\Day, I helped pitch and win the Airbnb account – and through all of the work created, the thread of “belonging” was ever-present. To not travel like a tourist, but instead live like a local.
AdWeek: Put away the selfie stick and live like a local, urges Airbnb’s new campaign.
